Thés de la Pagode
Project details
The challenge
In early 2025, Peak Ace detected a sudden surge in the number of indexed URLs in Google Search Console across the French, English and German versions of the Thés de la Pagode website.
The number of indexed URLs had skyrocketed from approximately 1,500 to more than 100,000.
The cause was a spider trap continuously generating parameterized URLs through combinations of product filters.
This created significant risks, including crawl budget dilution, poor indexation of strategic pages and declining organic search performance.
Objectives
Quickly stop the generation and indexation of unwanted URLs, restore a clean and controlled search index, protect strategic product, category and content pages, and safeguard the website’s long-term organic visibility.
Our solution
Peak Ace implemented a three-stage defensive SEO action plan.
1. Identify and contain the issue
The team identified and blocked the spider trap through technical crawling, noindex/nofollow directives and a dedicated deindexation sitemap.
2. Fix the root cause
Working closely with the technical teams, Peak Ace diagnosed the underlying issue and helped correct the product filtering logic responsible for generating unwanted URLs.
3. Monitor and secure the recovery
The agency progressively monitored deindexation through Google Search Console to ensure the search index returned to a healthy state.
The engagement also included sharing SEO best practices to prevent similar issues from recurring.
Key results
100,000 unwanted URLs removed from Google’s index
A clean, optimized index restored by the end of June 2025
